MA CHE RAZZA DE PAESE
The latest project by Lucilla Galeazzi, tells the story of a crucial phenomenon in the Italian history of the last two centuries: immigration. Starting from the second half of the 1800s, the show is made up of readings, stories and folk songs in which are narrated the journeys of lower working-class Italians from the ports of Italy to the U.S or central Europe, as well as settling towards the finally more industrialized northern Italy. From the Argentinian cultivations, to the huge factories North American railways, the Belgian and German mines, and finally to the Milan-Turin-Genoa industrial triangle. Thanks to all these places, the voices of the millions of Italians they are moved across the world in search of a job and a better future.
“Ma che razza de paese” is a moving show, which makes use of an accurate musical research which recalls the sad and present condition of the many desperate people who arrive on our shores to this day.
